Meet Alfie – A Gentle Soul Ready for a Fresh Start

Alfie was rescued from the harsh and unforgiving conditions of a public shelter in Romania, where his future was heartbreakingly uncertain. Thankfully, in January 2023, just before his first birthday, he was saved by our team and brought to safety. Now, at approximately 3 years old, Alfie is more than ready to find a family of his own.

Personality
Alfie is a reserved but curious boy who is slowly learning to trust. He takes treats gently and enjoys a calm, reassuring fuss. Once he feels comfortable, he will rest his head in your hands and lean in for affection—one of those heart-melting moments that shows his longing for love.

He is making steady progress with wearing a harness and walking on a lead, and his favorite time of day is when he gets to go out for a walk. His carers say he would happily walk all day, stopping to sniff every blade of grass along the way!

Alfie has also participated in group walks with other dogs and gets along well with them. He shares his kennel peacefully with a companion and enjoys playtime in the shelter’s playground, where his confidence shines through. He loves to run around, seek attention from his carers, and then trot off to explore again.

Home Required
Alfie will need patient and understanding owners who use positive reward training and counter-conditioning to help him adjust to his new environment. A quieter rural or suburban location would be ideal for him, allowing him to settle in at his own pace and enjoy peaceful walks, especially during the first few months.

He could live as an only dog, but we believe he would thrive with a confident, well-rounded resident dog to help him build his confidence. Alfie has so much potential—he just needs the right home to help him truly shine. Could you be the one to give him the second chance he deserves?
