Dusty – A Gentle Soul Searching for His Forever Home

Dusty was originally taken in by a local resident who cared for many dogs on her land. Sadly, when the person became very ill and could no longer look after them, our partner rescue stepped in to provide a safe haven. Now, Dusty is looking for a loving home to call his own and to finally experience what it means to be part of a real family.

Personality
Dusty is a sweet 2-year-old boy who is finding shelter life very overwhelming. It breaks our hearts to see such a gorgeous boy unsure of the world around him—we wish he knew that there is nothing to be afraid of.

Dusty is trying so hard to be brave. He finds great comfort in the presence of his kennel mates and is often found snuggling with them. While he isn’t quite ready for human touch yet, he watches curiously from a distance, sniffing and twitching his nose in their direction. He has only recently arrived at the shelter, so we hope that as he becomes more familiar with his carers, he will begin to find the courage to come out of his shell.

Home Required
Dusty needs a quiet and understanding home with patient adopters who are willing to give him all the time he needs to build trust. He would benefit from a confident resident dog to help guide him and show him the ropes. His family must be prepared for steady progress and should have a good understanding of positive reinforcement training to help him grow in confidence at his own pace.

With Dusty, the smallest milestones will feel like the biggest victories—whether it’s his first tail wag, his first time taking a treat from your hand, or the moment he chooses to sit beside you for comfort. Each little success will be a step towards the happy, trusting dog he has the potential to become.
