Henry – From Shy Pup to Playful Companion!

Background
Henry was saved from one of Romania’s harsh public pounds, where survival is a matter of luck. Thankfully, he was one of the fortunate ones, rescued by the team and brought to the safety of the shelter in December 2024. Now approximately seven months old, Henry is ready to find a family of his own—a place where he can experience unconditional love and the warmth of a real home.

Personality
Understandably, Henry was a shy little boy when he first arrived at the shelter, and the freezing temperatures made things even harder for him. He was often seen shivering in his kennel, so the team made the decision to move him into one of the offices with another pup for extra warmth and comfort. Since then, Henry has blossomed! He loves living with his kennel mate and is becoming more accustomed to people coming in and out of the office.

When indoors, Henry prefers to sit back and observe with curiosity, though he now happily accepts gentle fusses from his carers. But when he steps outside, his true personality shines! He runs around with an infectious waggy tail, playing with his canine friends and actively seeking attention from his humans—leaning in for cuddles and even giving the occasional kiss! Henry’s confidence is growing every day, and we can’t wait to see him continue to flourish in a loving forever home.

Home Required
Henry will need patient and understanding owners who use positive reward-based training and counter-conditioning to help him settle in. He may take a few days to adjust to his new surroundings, but with love and patience, it won’t be long before he becomes the playful, affectionate pup the shelter team knows and adores.
A home with plenty of space will be important to help Henry feel at ease in his first few days as he adjusts to his new life. He would also benefit from a friendly, confident, well-rounded resident dog to show him the ropes, though in the right environment, he could also thrive as an only dog.
