Meet Remo – A cool guy, who has patiently waited far too long for a home

Background

Remo is almost 4 years old and has been at the shelter since December 2022. He was rescued from a public pound and has blossomed into a lively and affectionate dog. Remo looks like a Shar-Pei mix, he has a really unique and interesting multicoloured tounge too!

Personality

Remo is a happy, affectionate boy who enjoys being with people. He often gets excited when you enter his kennel, jumping up to greet you and eagerly seeking out attention. Once settled, he enjoys being petted and calmly spending time near you. He’s very fond of the volunteers at the shelter, often nudging them for cuddles and burying his head in their arms.

He gets along with his kennel mates and has shown that he can interact well with other dogs. Remo responds well to a calm and structured environment and improves with consistent guidance.

He walks nicely on a lead, especially once his initial excitement settles. He is relaxed during outings, curious about his surroundings, and enjoys time outdoors. He has been out with the shelter team on charity walks in the community. Remo responds to positive interaction and is likely to do very well in a home that continues this approach.

Home Required

Remo would do best in an active home that can offer him regular exercise, attention, and a predictable routine. He could live with another friendly, balanced dog or be happy as the only dog if given plenty of companionship. He will need a home that’s committed to helping him adjust at his own pace. He’ll benefit greatly from consistent, reward-based training and gentle counter-conditioning to help him continue building confidence and positive associations with new environments.
