Meet Spud – Your New Adventure Buddy!

Background
Spud’s journey began in the care of a kind-hearted local resident who looked after many dogs. Sadly, when the resident became too ill to continue, our partner rescue stepped in to ensure the dogs found safety. Now, Spud is searching for a loving home where he can finally experience what it means to be part of a family.

Personality
Spud is a beautiful bundle of energy and full of life! At almost 2 years old, he has been at the shelter since January 2025. He’s the definition of a happy pup—wiggly, playful, loving, and always ready for fun!

Currently sharing his kennel with a female dog, Spud gets along wonderfully with his furry friend. When his carers enter, he rushes over, tail wagging wildly, eager for affection. He loves to lean against you, soak up all the love, and, of course, shower you with kisses!

Spud has been doing amazingly well with his harness and lead training, picking it up quickly—he must have figured out that wearing a lead means exciting adventures ahead! In the playground, Spud gets a serious case of the “zoomies”, racing around in pure joy as he stretches his legs. He’s also a toy fanatic, with a particular love for his squeaky ball.

Spud and his kennel mate, Betty, love chasing each other around, and because of his playful energy, we think he’d thrive in agility training, man trailing, or another fun activity to keep his mind and body engaged. It would be the perfect way for Spud to bond with his new family while channelling his energy into something exciting and rewarding.

Home Required
Spud is looking for patient and understanding owners who will use positive reinforcement and counter-conditioning to help him settle into his new world. He has never lived in a home before, so he will need to learn everything from scratch, including house training and home routines.

Since he’s an active young boy, he would love a home where his family can take him on exciting adventures, regular play sessions, and possibly introduce him to agility training or other mentally stimulating activities.

Spud could be an only dog or live with a playful, resident dog. He would also love regular playdates with other friendly dogs! If you’re looking for a fun-loving, energetic, and affectionate pup to join your family, Spud might just be your perfect match!
