Meet Taco – A loving boy who’s more than ready for his forever family

Background

Taco was found as a young pup on the streets alongside his mother Marlin and six brothers. Over time, his brothers have all found loving homes, but Taco and Marlin remain at the shelter. Volunteers often wonder how such a sweet dog has been overlooked for so long. Taco has spent the first few years of his life in the shelter, which no dog should have to do, but through it all he still has so much to offer.

Personality

Taco is a friendly and lively dog who loves being around people. He grew up in the shelter with his family, he has never been inside a home. His new family will have to understand this and be willing to give him all the time and patience he needs to find his paws. He is curious and likes exploring when he goes for walks, sometimes rolling on his back to ask for belly rubs.

Taco approaches new experiences with an open mind, although he can be easily distracted by sights and sounds around him, calm consistent guidance and positive reinforcement will help him stay engaged and build confidence.

With his friendly disposition and affectionate gestures, Taco is a true joy to be around and has so much potential to blossom in the right home.

Home Required

Taco would be happiest in a calm and patient home where he can continue to learn and grow at his own pace. As he’s spent most of his life in the shelter, everything in a home environment will be new to him—so a family that can offer routine, reassurance, and understanding will be key to helping him adjust.

His ideal match would be someone who enjoys spending time outdoors, is committed to using positive reinforcement, and can give Taco the time he needs to feel settled. A quieter setting without too much hustle and bustle would suit him best. He may be able to live with another well-matched dog, especially one who can help show him the ropes, but slow introductions will be important.

If you’re looking for a dog who’s ready to learn, explore, and be loved, Taco may be the perfect fit.
