STEP 1: Complete the Adoption Application Form

 Dog Adoption Form

STEP 2: Your application will be reviewed and we will contact you to let you know if we have a suitable dog for you, or if the dog you have requested in available.

STEP 3: We will arrange a telephone interview with our Adoption Manager to get to know you a little better.

NOTE: If you are successful we request a £85 non-refundable deposit to secure the dog for you. This will be deducted from the final total.

STEP 4: Successful applicants will have a home check to ensure that the home is suitable for the dog. Please note that all family members who live in the house will need to be present.

STEP 5: Once the home check is complete and the adoption agreed the adopter will need to complete the Adoption Contract and transfer the balance of the adoption costs, this must be 4 weeks prior to the dog arriving so we can book transport and vaccinations/passport process.

From reserving the dog to the dog arriving it will take 4-8 weeks.

Adoption costs are £595

This includes:
– Travel by animal courier, from Romania to England.
– Passport, vaccinations (DHPPi, Rabies, Lepto 2 and Kennel Cough), microchip.
– Comprehensive blood test to check for Dirofilaria(Heartworm), Borrelia(Lymes),Erlichia, Anaplasma, Babesia, Leishmania, Brucellosis and Giardia. Additional tests are available at adopters request.
– Spay / neuter (puppies may not be old enough. Only puppies will not be neutered and the adopter MUST arrange this within the agreed period of time as stated in the adoption contract. The fee will go as a donation to the charity for puppies who are too young to be neutered).
– Supporting the running of the charity.

STEP 6: – You MUST take a minimum of TWO WEEKS off work to help your dog settle in to their new life, two weeks would be preferable. We can work with you on arrival dates for your new family member to make this work for you.

STEP 7: – We have a great aftercare support team who will be on hand to help you settle your dog in and an adopters Facebook group for you to connect to other adopters. However you MUST engage with a positive reward based behaviourist to help your dog settle. Our post-adoption support does not replace the requirement for a professional behaviourist. We suggest finding a local IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Training) behaviourist close to you, you can find one here:

https://www.imdt.uk.com/find-a-qualified-imdt-trainer

Please note that if you have recently taken on a dog we ask that there is a 6 month wait period between adopting another period, allowing time for the resident dog to fully settle.

We don’t have a set adoption criteria and review each application on its own merits and for the individual dogs needs.

If you have any questions, please email info@thepackproject.org and someone will be happy to help you.
