Albert is a brave and resilient 6-year-old who has endured an unimaginably tough past. Used as a “bait” dog for dog fighting, he somehow found the strength to survive on the harsh streets of Romania before being rescued and brought to the safety of the shelter in August 2023. Despite everything he has been through, Albert’s spirit remains unbroken. He is now ready to leave his past behind and find a loving forever home where he can finally experience the kindness and security he deserves.

Personality
Albert refuses to let his past define him—this boy is full of enthusiasm for life! While he may take a little time to realize you’re a friend, it doesn’t take long before he’s wiggling with excitement, ready to soak up all the love and affection he can get. He adores fuss and will sometimes even reward you with sloppy kisses! Albert is incredibly patient when having his harness put on, knowing it means a walk is on the horizon. He has a playful side too—his absolute favorite thing is playing with balls, especially his beloved old football, which he joyfully pushes around and carries as he zooms across the playground! He has even joined in on group walks with other dogs at the shelter and done brilliantly.

Albert is looking for patient and understanding owners who can give him the fresh start he deserves. A home where positive reward-based training and counter-conditioning will help him settle into his new life is essential. He would prefer to be the only dog in the household so he can soak up all the love for himself.
