Meet Chicago – A Calm Boy Looking for His Safe Place

Chicago was rescued from the pound in Romania in December 2022 when he was just a puppy, and has remained at our partner shelter ever since, patiently waiting for his forever home.

Chicago is a calm, curious and gentle boy. He can be nervous at first but treats help his confidence begin to grow. He will bravely come and investigate and is happy to take treats from the hand. Once outside of the shelter environment, Chicago seems much more relaxed and his lovely nature begins to shine through. He allows himself to be stroked and gently groomed, showing that although he can be unsure to begin with, he does enjoy human company and affection once he feels safe. Chicago walks well on his lead and has also been out of the shelter on walks wearing his harness alongside other dogs. He takes lots of comfort and confidence from other dogs and seems happiest when he has calm dog company around him.

Chicago would love a patient and understanding home that will give him the time he needs to settle and learn that the world is not such a scary place. A rural or quieter suburban home would suit him best, with adopters who can offer him reassurance, kindness and gentle guidance. A home with another calm, confident dog would be ideal for Chicago, helping him continue to build confidence and trust. With love and patience, Chicago will make the most wonderful family member.
