Dotty has been at the shelter since February 2023 after being found alone on the streets in the local area. Due to her age, it is likely she once had a home and was sadly abandoned. Dotty has never truly experienced the comfort and routine of a family home. She will need patient guidance, kindness, and understanding as she learns what it means to be part of a loving household.

Personality

Dotty is a warm, affectionate, and people-loving girl who adores attention. She happily offers her paw, rolls over for belly rubs, and presses close for cuddles whenever visitors come to see her. Despite being a senior, she still has wonderful bursts of energy and truly loves her walks, outdoor exploring, and sniffing every exciting new scent.

She can be enthusiastic on the lead and curious about the world around her, but she responds well to calm handling and positive, reward-based training. With patience, counter-conditioning, and gentle guidance, Dotty will continue to grow in confidence and learn to settle beautifully. She is very people-focused and enjoys learning simple cues, especially when tasty treats and praise are involved.

Home Required

Dotty is looking for a calm, loving home with adopters who understand the needs of an older rescue dog who may be rediscovering home life for the first time. She will benefit from positive reinforcement training, steady routines, and owners who can offer patience, understanding, and reassurance as she adjusts.

She can be dog-selective and would do best as an only dog or with a carefully matched calm male companion, with feeding done separately. A quieter home environment where she can enjoy gentle walks, sniffing adventures, and plenty of affection would suit her perfectly.
