Hector, our gorgeous senior gentleman, is approximately 10 years old. After spending most of his life surviving on the streets of Romania, he was finally rescued and brought to the safety of the shelter in June 2023. For the first time, he has been shown kindness, patience, and love by his carers. Now, this sweet soul is ready for his very own retirement home, where he can swap shelter life for a comfy sofa, a warm bed, and the love of a family who will cherish him for the rest of his years.

Personality
Hector is a gentle and reserved boy, still learning to trust humans – and after all he’s been through, who can blame him? He tends to watch new people from a safe distance at first, but once he gets to know you, he will quietly sit beside you and gently sniff your hands, slowly but surely building trust. It’s such a rewarding feeling when he lets you into his little world! He loves nothing more than snoozing in his kennel, fully embracing the relaxed, chilled-out lifestyle he deserves. He currently shares his space with a canine friend and gets along well with them.

Hector dreams of a quiet, loving home where he can curl up in a warm bed and enjoy the simple pleasures in life—good food, gentle company, and the security of knowing he’s finally safe. He will need patient and understanding owners who are familiar with positive reward-based training and counter-conditioning, as he will be starting from scratch when it comes to home life. The little milestones with Hector will be truly special—the first time he wags his tail at you, the first time he accepts a fuss, and the moment he finally realises he is home. Being the one to restore Hector’s faith in humans will be an experience like no other.
