Meet Henry – A Gentle Soul Ready for Love

Background
Henry was rescued from the streets of Tarlungeni in 2022, where he struggled to survive on scraps. We don’t know much about his past, but we can see the trauma in his eyes. Despite everything he has been through, he yearns for a loving family of his own—one that will show him what true love and kindness feel like.

Personality
When Henry first arrived at the shelter, he was understandably nervous and afraid. He had never known the touch of kind hands or the warmth of people who truly care. But with time, patience, and the dedication of his carers, he is learning to trust more every day.

Building a bond with Henry takes time, but it is so worth it. With those he trusts, he will gently come over, tail wagging, and quietly accept treats and affection. (His absolute favourite treat is squeezy cheese!)

Henry currently shares his kennel with two other dogs, and he gets along well with them. In fact, he often leans on them for confidence, so having a calm and friendly canine companion in his future home would likely help him continue to blossom.

Home Required
Henry needs patient and understanding owners who will use positive reinforcement and counter-conditioning to help him adjust to his new world.

Henry would thrive best in a quiet, rural home with a large, secure garden and minimal visitors. This would give him the space and environment he needs to feel safe and come out of his shell.

We also believe he would benefit greatly from a calm, kind resident dog, who can show him the ropes and help him build his confidence.

All Henry wants is to feel safe and secure. Once he builds a bond with you, it’s a bond that will last forever. He may need extra patience, but we promise—he will be worth it.
