Meet Hope – The girl who is hoping for her second chance

Background

Hope was rescued from a local pound in January 2023 and has been waiting patiently at the shelter ever since. At around 11 years old, her early life is mostly a mystery—but it’s clear she hasn’t let the past dampen her spirit. She deserves to know what it means to be part of a home.

Personality

Hope is a gentle girl who prefers calm company and a quiet environment. She doesn’t need constant attention and is perfectly content to relax nearby or explore her space at her own pace. While she may be a little unsure at first, she greets visitors with a wagging tail and soft eyes. She enjoys being stroked—especially when she trusts you—and has a soft, polite way of asking for attention. Volunteers have described her as sweet, loving, and quietly affectionate—she doesn’t demand attention, but she clearly enjoys it and will often return for more.

Hope is very food-motivated, which will help to continue building trust and confidence alongside positive reward based training and counter conditioning. She will require encouragement with toys and play as it appears this is not something she has experienced in her life. She gets along well with dogs she knows but may need time to adjust to new ones.

Home Required

We believe that Hope would do best in a peaceful, stable home where she’s given time to decompress and adjust gradually. An experienced or patient adopter who understands the value of consistency, positive reinforcement, and calm encouragement will help her feel secure. While she has shared a kennel well with other dogs, she may need slow, managed introductions if living with another calm dog.

Hope is a calm, kind older girl who still has so much love to give. She enjoys soft contact, and peaceful walks. Her ideal family will meet her with patience and understanding, allowing her to blossom at her own pace.

Hope has waited patiently for far too long, could you be the person to finally change that for her?
