Joe was rescued from the streets after local authorities contacted the shelter about several dogs living near a school. He was one of the young dogs trying to survive on his own, without safety, structure, or the care every dog deserves. Since January 2025, Joe has been in the shelter, slowly learning that people can be kind and that life can be fun and safe. He is now ready to begin the next chapter of his life with a family who can guide him into home life for the very first time.

Personality

Joe is a bright, energetic, and joyful boy with a huge love for play. Balls are his absolute favourite, and he is always ready for a game of fetch or tug-of-war. In the playground he runs happily, explores with curiosity, and often invites people to join in his games by proudly carrying toys over and pressing close for attention.

He is affectionate and enjoys being stroked, especially once he has had a chance to release some of his excitement through play. Like many dogs who have grown up without guidance, Joe can become over-excited but he responds well when calmly redirected and quickly settles when given clear, gentle guidance. On walks he wears a harness well, is eager to go out exploring, and improves quickly as the walk continues. With patient, positive training, Joe shows great potential to learn calm manners and become a wonderful companion.

Home Required

Joe will need a dedicated and understanding home that knows he has never lived in a house before and is still learning how the world works. He will benefit greatly from positive reward-based training, counter conditioning, and calm, consistent guidance to help him manage his excitement.

An active family who enjoys walks, games, and training sessions would suit him well, as well as people who are patient and happy to build skills step by step. A secure garden and regular mental stimulation will help him channel his energy in healthy ways.
