Lovely Lottie – Waiting So Long for Her Forever Home

Her Story
Lottie was rescued from one of Romania’s harsh public shelters in October 2021. These shelters are overcrowded, terrifying places, where dogs like Lottie stand little chance of ever finding safety. Thankfully, she was given a second chance at life when she was brought to the rescue centre.

But Lottie has now been waiting over three years for a home of her own. She was just over a year old when she arrived, meaning she has spent most of her young life in a shelter. While she is safe, this is no substitute for the warmth of a loving home, and we long to see her finally get the happy ending she deserves.

Her Personality
Lottie is a shy girl when meeting new people. After everything she’s been through, who could blame her? If a stranger enters her kennel, she will quietly sit at a distance, watching with an occasional lift of her paw as if to say, “I promise I’m a good girl.”

However, with time and patience, Lottie starts to show her sweet and gentle nature. Once she trusts you, she will accept fusses and greet you with a waggy tail, showing glimpses of the affectionate dog she truly is.

Lottie absolutely adores other dogs and looks to them for reassurance. If she sees a confident dog approaching a carer for treats, she watches carefully, slowly following their lead. In the playground, her personality shines through as she happily runs around and plays with her kennel mates—a beautiful sight for the carers who have watched her come out of her shell. As one of them put it, “Behind her shyness is an amazing character that you can easily see in her big, gentle eyes.”

The Home Lottie Needs
Lottie needs kind, patient, and understanding adopters who are willing to take things at her pace. Every small milestone—like the first time she sits next to you—will be a moment to celebrate, and the journey will be so rewarding.

Because she thrives in the company of other dogs, we would love to see Lottie in a home with a kind, confident resident dog to show her the ropes and help her realise that humans can be trusted. Her adopters should have a good understanding of positive reinforcement training and counter-conditioning to help her adjust to her new world.

Lottie has waited so long. Could you be the one to show her what love truly means? 🧡
