Meet Mabel – A Sweet Girl Ready for Her Second Chance

Mabel was rescued from one of Romania’s harsh public shelters in October 2021. These shelters are overcrowded and terrifying places where dogs like Mabel have little hope of finding safety.

Thankfully, she was given a second chance at life when she was brought to the rescue centre. Now, at approximately 8 years old, she’s been waiting just over a year for the loving home she truly deserves.

Personality
Mabel shares her kennel with two other dogs, and the three of them get along beautifully. She also spends part of the day in an open area where the shelter team takes their breaks.

When she first arrived, she was shy and unsure, but being around people and other dogs has done wonders for her confidence.

She’s naturally curious and will approach with a waggy tail and a good sniff to get to know you. If you have treats—even better! She’ll happily take them from your hand and will stay close by, patiently waiting for the next one.

One of the shelter volunteers shared:
“Mabel does the cutest tippy-toe taps when she’s excited to get snacks—it makes my day seeing her do her little dance!”

Home Required
Mabel needs patient and understanding owners who will use positive reinforcement training and counter-conditioning to help her settle into her new world.

She has never lived in a home before, so she will need to learn everything from scratch.

She would benefit from living with another friendly, confident, and calm resident dog who can help show her the ropes and continue building her trust.
