Meet Ben – A Big-Hearted Boy Bursting With Potential

Background

Ben was rescued from a local pound in December 2025, due to his age it is likely he was owned and then sadly abandoned and ended up in the pound. During his initial assessment he showed just how people-focused he is – despite damaged fencing with sharp wire ends and a real risk of injury, Ben desperately tried to reach the people on the other side, drawn purely by his desire for human connection. Like many dogs who come from such environments, Ben has never lived in a home before, so the world of calm routines, cosy spaces, and companionship is still completely new to him.

Personality

Ben is an energetic, playful, and very friendly boy who thrives on human attention. He happily greets visitors, often barking and pawing at the kennel gate to be noticed, and when the shelter staff enter, he bursts with excitement – jumping around and inviting you to play. Once calmer, he truly enjoys being petted and spending time close to people, showing a softer, more relaxed side beneath his enthusiasm.

Home Required

Ben will need a patient and understanding home that is committed to positive reward-based training and gentle counter-conditioning. Because he has never lived in a home environment, he will require lots of guidance to learn how to adapt to everyday household life. A calm, consistent approach will help him feel secure and supported. Continued training and plenty of enrichment will be essential to help Ben settle into his new way of life.

Ben is a joyful, people-loving dog with a huge heart and an eagerness to connect. His enthusiasm and playfulness are matched by his capacity to calm down and enjoy quiet affection when given time and reassurance. With patience, kindness, and positive guidance, Ben has all the ingredients to grow into a wonderful, loyal companion. He is ready for a home that will help him learn, settle, and finally feel safe and loved.
