Her Story
Duchess and her siblings were born into a world that offered them little kindness. Struggling to survive on the streets of Romania, they depended on scraps from compassionate strangers, all while facing the harsh reality of being unwanted. Thankfully, our partner rescue stepped in, giving Duchess and her siblings the safety and care they desperately needed.

Since arriving at the rescue in September 2024, Duchess has learned what it means to be safe. But what she truly needs now is a forever home—a quiet, patient place where she can finally begin to flourish.

Her Personality
Duchess is a gentle, sensitive girl who takes comfort in the presence of other dogs. She often stays behind her more confident siblings, watching and waiting before taking cautious steps forward. Right now, she isn’t quite ready for hands-on affection, but there’s a quiet determination in her—each day, she grows a little braver, a little more curious.

When she’s in the play area, a different side of Duchess begins to emerge. She enjoys running alongside her siblings, playing in short, joyful bursts before stepping back to observe the world around her. This mix of quiet curiosity and playfulness hints at the loving companion she could become in the right home.

The Home Duchess Needs
Duchess needs a calm and understanding home—one where she can settle in at her own pace, without pressure. A peaceful household with minimal visitors would be ideal, and having a kind, confident resident dog could provide her with the reassurance she needs to feel secure.

Her adopters should have experience (or be willing to learn) about positive reinforcement training and counter-conditioning to help her slowly build confidence. Every small step forward will be a victory, and with patience and love, Duchess will blossom into the wonderful dog we know she can be.
