Meet Ernie – A Sweet Soul Waiting for His Second Chance

Ernie was rescued from a local pound in Romania in March 2026 after the shelter team had noticed him with an injured leg. He was taken into the care of our partner shelter where he received the care and safety he desperately needed. Due to his age, it is likely Ernie once belonged to a family before sadly finding himself abandoned or surrendered to the pound. He is now patiently waiting for his forever home.

Ernie is a sweet, gentle and calm natured boy who has a lovely affectionate side. He enjoys being close to people and happily seeks out cuddles and attention. When greeting people he can become excited at first but he settles down nicely. He loves to nudge his head into you for affection. He is incredibly loving and it is hard not to fall in love with his soft and gentle personality.

Ernie is comfortable being handled and petted all over and happily allowed a collar to be fitted. He gently takes treats from the hand and enjoys spending time exploring. In the playground he enjoyed sniffing around, greeting people and then happily laying down and enjoying a quiet moment to himself. Ernie has shown himself to be a very lovely natured and balanced boy who could potentially live with another friendly and well balanced dog. A calm rural or suburban home with adopters who can provide love and patience would suit him perfectly. After everything Ernie has been through, he deserves a home where he can finally feel safe, loved and secure for the rest of his life.
